    Fun Facts

    Did You Know?

    • Purebred Belted Galloway cattle come in three (3) basic colors:  Black, Red and Dun.  Black is the most common and Dun is the scarcest, with variations within each color being possible.
    • Purebred Belted Galloway's are naturally polled.  Meaning:  no horns
    • Galloway's originated in Scotland's hill country and began being imported into the United States in the 1940's.
    • * In Europe, the breed is considered a “light grazer,” meaning that its relatively light bodyweight makes it preferred for grazing where heavier animals would damage marginal lands. Belted Galloways are also known for their browsing ability, giving them added value in the management and diversification of grasslands. *The Livestock Conservancy
